Estate Planning Notary — Trusts, Powers of Attorney & Advance Health Care Directives
Estate-planning documents are some of the most important papers a person will ever sign, and many of them only take effect when they are signed correctly and notarized. The OC Notary is a mobile notary serving Orange County since 2001, and we travel to homes, offices, hospitals and care facilities, 24/7, to notarize estate-planning documents at a time and place that works for the signers and their families. Call 714-253-7618 to schedule an appointment.
Documents We Commonly Notarize
Attorneys and their clients regularly ask us to notarize living trusts and trust certifications, amendments and restatements, durable powers of attorney, advance health care directives, HIPAA authorizations, deeds transferring property into or out of a trust, and related affidavits and declarations. Each of these documents has signature lines, and some require a notarial certificate. Our job at the appointment is focused: verify each signer’s identity, witness the signing, complete the notarial acts the document calls for, and keep the appointment organized so nothing is missed.
What a Notary Can — and Cannot — Do
Please note: a notary public is not an attorney. The OC Notary cannot give legal advice, cannot tell you which documents you need, cannot draft or prepare estate-planning documents, and cannot explain the legal effect of a trust, power of attorney or health care directive. Those questions belong to a licensed California estate-planning attorney, who can prepare documents tailored to your situation. Once your documents are prepared and ready to sign, we handle the notarization — and if your attorney wants to be present or on the phone during the signing, we are happy to work around their schedule.
How an Estate-Planning Signing Works
Start by booking: call 714-253-7618 or book online and tell us how many signers and documents are involved, and whether any signer is in a hospital or care facility. Before the appointment, review the documents with your attorney and confirm exactly who must sign and whether witnesses are needed in addition to the notary — some documents, in some situations, call for disinterested witnesses, and it is far easier to arrange them ahead of time. Each signer must have valid, government-issued photo identification; see our ID requirements page for what is accepted. Do not sign the documents before we arrive — the notary must witness the signatures that will be notarized. At the appointment, we confirm identities, walk through the documents page by page, complete the certificates, and return the signed set to you or your attorney’s office as instructed.
Signings at Home, in Hospitals & Care Facilities
Many estate-planning signings happen because something in life changed — a new home, a new grandchild, a move into assisted living, or a health event that makes planning urgent. We meet signers at kitchen tables, in attorney conference rooms, and at bedsides across Orange County. For hospital and care facility appointments, see our hospital notary page — a facility fee applies in addition to travel. If a signer is frail or communication is difficult, tell us when you book so we can allow extra time and a quiet setting.
Fees Snapshot
Notarization is $15 per notarized signature through December 31, 2026. Travel within our service area is $100, hospital or care facility appointments are $40, and weekend and after-hours rates may apply. Full details are on our Fees & Payment page.
